A Lounge of Lizards

There are over 6,000 species of lizards and they live on every continent except Antarctica. They are cold-blooded reptiles that rely on sunshine to warm up their bodies. Many have detachable tails to help them escape predators. The tails usually grow back. Most lizards are shy and harmless to humans, however the Komodo dragon, largest of the lizards, is dangerous and venomous. Komodos can grow to over ten feet in length and weigh over 350 pounds. The much-smaller chameleons move their eyes independently, and can process two different situations at once. They can also change color to blend into their environment or impress a mate.
